Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid season, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's first title after the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 various events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on court had caused commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to create a decider.

He saved 4 early opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he clinched the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
